Licensed Associate Counselor

Billy Miranda

I am a dedicated Licensed Associate Counselor in the State of New Jersey with a passion for helping individuals navigate their mental health journey in recovery. With six years of teaching experience in higher education, I have imparted knowledge to students at the undergraduate level within the Department of Behavioral Sciences and the Mental Health and Human Services Program at the City University of New York (CUNY).

My academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The City College of New York, CUNY, followed by a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Additionally, I have attained a second Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

I have research interests that focus on exploring the effects of exercise on trauma symptoms, the intersection of trauma with eating disorders, and the role of trauma with addictive behaviors. I am enthusiastic about incorporating evidence-based practices into my work, holding certificates from the Beck Institute of Cognitive Behavior Therapy for treating Anxiety and Depression. In practice, I adopt a versatile approach, primarily rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy, while integrating person-centered and other modalities to offer a comprehensive treatment experience.

Beyond my professional pursuits, I find joy in diverse forms of exercise, from high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to tranquil hikes. During my downtime, I cherish moments spent engaging in games and quality time with my loved ones.
